Remake, Reboot, or Rest in Peace? The Starlost…

TheStarlost

Like it or not, there is big money in old shows/ideas. In remaking them, specifically. It’s one of those ‘face it and embrace it’ facts of life. Growing up, I was a huge fan of the (now admittedly rather lame) original Guardians of the Galaxy. So when I heard it was being rebooted, I cringed. Turns out I had nothing to worry about.

Don’t get me wrong. I will probably *never* see the Rocky Horror Picture Show remake. Ever. But what about The Starlost?

It had a great deal of potential. A few years after it hit the airwaves, a somewhat similar role playing game hit the market–Metamorphosis Alpha–and had a decent run. It wasn’t The Morrow Project by any means–but I digress. So. Do we remake The Starlost? Reboot it?  Or simply let it Rest in peace?

I’d love to see the show rebooted. The premise is still fun and reasonably open-ended. Make the series have a set run like Babylon Five. Maybe ask George R.R. Martin to write the scripts. Think ‘Game of Thrones’ on a spaceship. We know who started the series. Who will be around at the finish? What will they find?

I only have one request. Please please, please, if it is ever rebooted: keep Mu Lambda 165.

He rocked.
